Childhood memories

Started by: linma (2919)

Just been reading childhood memories by Fred Foster and he tells the story of his parents seeing him out with a lass and later on his Dad told him she was ‘feh’ (ugly). I have only ever heard anyone use that description before and that was my Dad. Is that a Wigan saying?

I'm afraid it's not. It was introduced over here after the Spanish Civil War, by men who had been over there supporting the Catalans against Franco's men.
Along with other terminology, laaaaike! (now, THAT'S Wiggin! )
